Mrs. Moseley's class

Tick Tock, Tick Tock, the clock stared at my face. Scraaaaatch, the sound of erasers working harder than ever. Tip tap, Tippity Tap, the sound of children thinking. The room is as colorful as a collage and as welcoming as a blanket of snow. What class it it?
...It is Mrs. Moseley's class of course! NO other class it like it!
-Alex S.

The class was as cold as snow. Papers hanged from the ceiling, dangling in the cool breeze of the classroom. You could hear papers swishing around the place. Swish, Woosh, as they went. It was a place for learning. There was stuff everywhere. There were papers on every wall, giving us facts and hints about reading and writing. The classroom was full of movement all the time.

The first step I took was peaceful. The air was calm, the lamps were as bright as thes un. Joy filled my heart, it felt like the fall. Colorful leaves covered the room. The hot steaming fireplace was warm. Fat pumpkins slumped on a shelf. Soft pillows were stuffed with fluf, it smelled like coffee. It was amazing.

Mrs. Moseley's classroom is very organized and colorful. Posters fill the wall like paint. There are inspiring words on every corner. Books filled the room like clotches on my bedroom floor. The classroom is beautiful.

Essentials and an unveiling!

Here is what is going on in the classroom! This week we are switching to Mrs.Cakir's class to do math then to Mrs.Radenbaugh's room for science and social studies then back to our home room with Mrs.Moseley. We are learning the Essential 55.  Here are some Essential 55's:  say yes ma'am and no ma'am , please and thank you, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, there are some more but here is one more, say excuse me when you toot, burp, and sneeze.

In September and October we are celebrating football by having a plastic mini-football field. Each table has their own color like orange, yellow, blue, red, and white!  When your table is following the rules your table gets a yard. You go from 10 to 100, when you pass 100 your table gets a touch down!

READING!!!!!! We just unvieled the reading room, it is so cool!   I think everyone loves it because there is all sorts of places in the room to sit like a beanbag chair, two couches that my family and I donated to the room,a pink fluffy chair,  a mini-blue chair, three rollie chairs, and some tables,a fireplace, and some lamps. But the cool thing is that the tables look like your eating at Starbucks and we also have some water just in case somebody gets thirsty. That's what is going on in our classroom!!!

I hope to chat with you soon,

The Crazy Classroom

This week we are working on figurative language, onomatopoeia is a sound, Example: POP! BOOM! BANG! CRASH! There are also Similes which compares two things using “like” or “as”.Example: The puppy is as fluffy as a   fur coat. She also showed us a song called ‘POP Goes My Heart.’ I thought she was insane when she was dancing to the song it was so funny!

She also is making a reading lounge in the room next door and there was a really fun thing that happened  when she was asking the class separately what we think would make reading more fun and I said we should come up with a reading corner and she already asked Mrs.Raleeh if we could do it. S o now the room next door  is now the reading lounge. I cannot wait to go into it when it is done I hope it will be fun.

The V8 Shake

This week we will be learning how to use figurative language for example “Due dates are like warning signs passing on the ride of a lifetime”. We were surprised when Mrs. Moseley introduced 'POP goes my heart! I thought she didn’t have a v8. I’m a student and I thought we were in for a fun ride. Boy I’m still banged up from shaking my behind too hard. ANYWAY, I think she is going to make us do readers theater just a rumor spreading. But I can’t believe I’m excited for Mondays now.

First Two Weeks!

The first two weeks of school we were learning how to pick out a good book and about the classroom expectations. We had fun learning all those new things.  We also learned to buzz with other students about our ideas. People in some groups had really good ideas. Some other things we did were talk about our reading and if we needed to work on reading or was just right where we were. It was a very fun and tiring first 2 weeks of school!

Getting excited

Back to School sales, fancy new backpacks, tax free weekend, can you feel it?

It's that time again!

School is starting in less than two weeks. I am so excited to meet my new students. I know I have some who are so excited about school, but there are others who are dreading it.

If I could have a pre-school year conversation with my students, I would tell them how excited I was to meet them. I would tell them that this might be their best year yet. I might even admit that I was probably as nervous (or more so) as they are about the first day. For sure, I would tell them that I promise to do my absolute best to make this year the most interesting, fun, and challenging year they ever had. I would tell my soon-to-be students that I promise to love them. I may not always call on them in class when they have been raising their hand for what seems like an hour, or understand when they get frustrated with another student who may or may not have taken their favorite eraser. But I will love them.

So, the 2011-2012 school year is rapidly approaching. You know what I say to that?

Let's do this!
